Ciara's life is all roses these days. Find out what the ESSENCE magazine May 2016 (double) cover girl says about writing her goals down, her planned pregnancy and unplanned breakup, marrying her dream husband and more inside...
In the May 2016 issue of ESSENCE Magazine, Ciara -- who will be hitting the main stage at ESSENCE Music Festival this summer -- is talking about her rosy outlook on life. Yeah, we'd have an extra rosy outlook too if we were CiCi!
The singer has had the career resurgence of life: Tons of performances for major sports games and high-paying private gigs, festival bookings, magazine covers, a fiancé with a $90 million NFL contract and a Super Bowl ring, her own massive diamond ring, and a son who is just super delicious.
The gorgeous cover comes with a few interesting reveals. CiCi says in the issue that her son, Future, whom she shares with ex-fiance and rapper Future, was planned:
“I’d always wanted to have my own family,” she said. “And my pregnancy was planned when I was at a point in my life when I was finally ready to take on the responsibility.”
Oh?
Obviously, the messy breakup between her and the "March Madness" rapper and becoming a single mother weren't planned:
“That wasn’t necessarily part of my vision,” she recalls. “But the moment I realized I was going to be a single mother, I had to reflect and reorganize my thoughts. I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time.”
Now she's moved on to a man who seemingly gives her the world -- love, happiness, and love for her son. She says about her fiancé Russell Wilson:
“Marriage is something I look forward to. I believe in family, and the beauty of two people committing to spend their lives together. We talk about everything. To me, to both of us, that’s the foundation you need for love to flourish and reach its highest place. I want to live with as much lightness as possible, so I can stay focused on my love of God, and being the best mom, and the best person, I can be…”
Yes, "lightness" in your life is key! She continued:
“I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me. I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.”
Speaking of being very specific, she also revealed she wrote down a list of goals while in high school in College Park, GA:
“I made a goal sheet,” Ciara tells writer Jeannine Amber. On that list was also the dream of selling “3 to 4 million” records and “have longevity.” Those dreams came true by the time she was 21.
We're here for specificity. Hopefully everyone with specific goals holds out hope for getting their dreams fulfilled too.
The May issue of ESSENCE hits newsstands April 15th.
